Ex-PM’s ‘comeback’
SYDNEY: For a few hours, Australia’s first female prime minister Julia Gillard was returned to power – at least on the national broadcaster ABC’s news website, which was affected by a blackout.
Yesterday, emergency service workers were clearing fallen trees after a flash storm raced across the northern part of the city the day before, leaving more than 40 000 homes in Sydney without power.
The broadcaster’s national news website crashed, with stories from 2011 on the homepage. Gillard, who was toppled in 2013, was back on the site as prime minister.
