Dortmund keen to sign one or two more players

- SOCCER

BORUSSIA Dortmund could sign more players after securing the services of young striker Erling Haaland earlier during the January transfer window, but Mario Gotze’s fate at the club won’t be decided until the end of the season.

Sports director Michael Zorc,

told dpa at Dortmund’s winter break training camp in Spain that there “may be one or another change” in the squad.

This could happen if Dortmund sell Spanish forward Paco Alcacer who could generate a fee of ¤40million .

Zorc admitted “we have no offer worth discussing” but Sevilla and Atletico Madrid are said to be interested in the forward who has seen little playing time lately, and could see even less in the future after the arrival of the Norwegian teenager Haaland.

Zorc meanwhile ruled out a January sale of 2014 World Cup hero Gotze who has also not played regularly under coach Lucien Favre and whose contract expires at the end of the season.

“Of course he would like more minutes. We will sit down in (the) spring and then make a final decision,” Zorc said.

Dortmund chief executive Hans Joachim Watzke told German newspaper Die Welt that Goetze is not for sale right now, and Favre may have found a new position for the 27-yearold forward in central midfield during the Marbella camp.

Dortmund lie in fourth place on the Bundesliga standings ahead of facing Augsburg away when the league resumes on the weekend, seven points behind leaders RB Leipzig. | dpa
