RISING soprano star Nombulelo Yende will delight audiences with her powerful voice at this year’s Last Night on the Proms before leaving for Germany to join the Oper Frankfurt Opera Studio.

Born in 1991 in Mkhondo, Mpumalanga, multi-award-winning Yende’s talent is celebrated internationally.

She is currently in her last year of studies as a postgraduate in music performance, specialising in opera.

Before she departs in September, Yende will amaze audiences with her powerful voice at Last Night of the Proms – Roccover Beethoven at the Cape Town City hall.

Last Night of the Proms remains a platform for new virtuosos each year.

The Rotary Club of Wynberg pulls out all the stops, recruiting talent nationally, promising a night of classic musical bliss, while raising funds for their beneficiaries, which include Friends of Orchestral Music and Beau Soleil.

Last year, Yende was awarded the Audience Prize at the Neue Stimmen Competition in Gütersloh, Germany, a competition that has been going for 30 years and invites only the top-performing singers.

In 2018 she won the Grand Prize and Audience Prize at the Vincenzo Bellini Belcanto Competition in Vêndome, France.

Tickets for Last Night of the Proms are on sale through Computicket from R250. Performances are scheduled for

March 14 and 15.

Sponsored lucky draw prizes by the Entertainer App, Stanford Valley Guest Farm, Blanko at the Alphen Hotel and the Piano Bar will be up for grabs.
