Help for taxis in war on Covid-19

- Edward West

WITH South Africa’s 200 000 taxis likely to remain a weak spot in the fight against the spread of Covid-19, a Cape Town company has developed a world first conversion to the standard air ventilation system in vehicles that can fight corona viruses.

Holding company CanbiGold, said the conversion enables the dispersion of HOCL (Hypochlorous Acid), proven to be effective in fighting against corona viruses. CanbiGold chief executive Leon van der Linde said minibus taxis transport in excess of 15 million commuters each day. After the lockdown is lifted, the taxi industry might become an incubator for the virus. “We’ve become the first company in the world to develop a system for the dispersal of HOCL, an anti-viral and anti-bacterial disinfectant into vehicles,” he said.

HOCL is scientifically proven to kill the Avian influenza A (H5N1) and Sars corona virus. The US listed it as a disinfectant against the Covid-19 virus, in March. |
