Duchess performs in Dahl classic for charity

-

LONDON: She is known for her love of books and a wicked sense of humour.

Now the duchess of Cornwall will join a star-studded cast to take on her first character role in the retelling of Roald Dahl’s classic, James and the Giant Peach.

Lining up alongside Oscarwinning actress Lupita Nyong’o and film-maker Taika Waititi, Camilla will feature as the surprised ship’s captain in episode six of the series.

The series is part of an initiative by The Roald Dahl Story Company to support charities hit by the pandemic, such as the Roald Dahl Marvellous Children’s Charity, of which Camilla is a patron.

Big names including Meryl Streep, Eddie Redmayne, Benedict Cumberbatch, Thor actor Chris Hemsworth and model Cara Delevingne have also taken on roles in the series.

The episode, which premiered on the Roald Dahl HQ YouTube channel yesterday, has already raised around £80000 (R1.7million) for the campaign.
