Discussion on McCann suspect
KIEL: The regional parliament in the northern German state of SchleswigHolstein is set to discuss whether judicial failures occurred in the handling of the Madeleine McCann murder suspect. The debate will examine whether prosecutors made a mistake that resulted in the suspect being temporarily freed from jail for around four weeks in 2018.
Questions have been raised about a missed legal deadline that may have allowed the suspect, who at the time was serving a sentence for child abuse in another case, to be briefly released from custody. The man is currently serving a prison sentence for a separate drug offence. | dpa
