Grassy Park rocked by triple murder
GRASSY Park residents say they are living in fear as shootings in the area continue unabated, with the latest incident claiming the lives of three people.
Police are investigating the triple murder which occurred in an eatery along Klip Road on Wednesday.
Grassy Park CPF spokesperson Philip Bam said the community was unsettled by the crime in their community.
“We are now frustrated because we feel the government is failing us, and the law enforcement agencies are failing us as they are supposed to protect us as they are mandated to do.
“The recent shooting has been quite shocking to the community as they are still recovering from the death of Nehemiah who died in crossfire in Parkwood earlier this week. One of the victims was a Malawian shop assistant; the other two appear to be affiliated to gangs in the Lavender Hill area,” said Bam.

assailant arrived at the food outlet on a motorbike before he ran into the store and started shooting.
“The gun-wielding suspect had shot at the two men who were in the store buying food. This is very upsetting in light of everything happening in the community. The CPF is very concerned about this where criminals think they can be so brazen.
“There are cameras on that site and police are trying to source footage, but the assailant got away. He had seemingly emptied his magazine because there were so many bullet casings found. We want guns off our streets, and we want those who are peddling these guns out of our area as well,” said Bam. Police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa said police were combing the scene on Wednesday for clues.
“Three men in their twenties were shot dead by an unknown gunman in Grassy Park. A preliminary report suggests that two of the victims had just walked into a food outlet business in Klip Road when the gunman followed them, fired several shots inside the business, killing the two men and another, who is believed to be an assistant at the fisheries,” said Potelwa.
