Let us make the New Year peaceful

CAPE Town had one of its best days on Christmas Day. We need to appreciate good behaviour. People of the Western Cape spent their Christmas mostly at home and not on the beaches. South African police need to be given a special mention as well for maintaining law and order, particularly in Khayelitsha.

Without mentioning people’s drinking holes by name, most of the big ones in Khayelitsha were closed by the police.

Yes, there was an unsavoury incident which happened in Spine Road, but overall the police not only protected people, but made them feel better under these challenging, death-laden circumstances and made them appreciate the police even more.

I hope the New Year will be as peaceful.
