Most expensive flat in country going begging

- STAFF WRITER

AT R170 million, an eight-bedroom Clifton Beach oasis is the most expensive flat listing available in South Africa.

Previously, one of the most expensive listings in the country topped out at R150m for a fivebedroom home in Fresnaye, RE/MAX Living said.

Since acquiring the listing in the later half of last year, sales associate Karryn Cartoulis received two serious offers on the R150m home before it was sold recently for R120m.

She expects similar levels of interest in this new R170m flat.

“Forged into the cliffside flanking one of Clifton’s premiere beaches, this R170m apartment is Eventide’s pièce de resistance.

“Designed by world-renowned architectural firm SAOTA, the home presents uninterrupted views across the Atlantic Ocean and 12 Apostles mountain range,” RE/MAX said.

The entrance level of the doublestorey apartment features a state-ofthe-art, open-plan “front of house” kitchen with a freestanding island and white marble countertops, as well as a dining and living area surrounded by frameless glass stacking doors.

The expansive enclave offers an informal seating area positioned under a timbered lattice overhang, as well as automated awnings which provide ample shade and privacy.

The apartment also has a 20m heated lap pool.

On the entrance level is a fully equipped service kitchen with a separate entrance, a laundry area, a glass-enclosed and temperaturecontrolled wine cellar, two guest powder rooms, as well as two spacious en-suite bedrooms, one of which includes a double steam shower, separate toilet and sumptuous dressing room.

The first floor can be partitioned into two separate apartments, each with their own entrances, by activating the automated security shutter.

The gym has its own en-suite bathroom and built-in cupboards.

Additional extras include an en-suite pyjama lounge or playroom with a gas fireplace, an elevated nook with a heated plunge pool and built-in seating area, and a luxurious open-plan study replete with a seating area and gas fireplace.

Surrounding the flat are automated roll-down, security shutters.
