ACCUSED gun smuggler Anderson Padayachee, who is affiliated to the notorious Terrible Joster gang, is expected back in the Worcester Magistrate’s Court this morning where he will be served a high court indictment for 61 criminal charges.

Padayachee, from Durban, is currently out on R60 000 bail after the state had not opposed his application concerning the Schedule 5 offences.

His bail conditions stated that he may not leave the magisterial district of Wentworth and was to hand over his passport while signing in at his local police station three times a week.

Padayachee, who held a firearm trading licence, is accused of having sold guns to the Terrible Joster gang, whose stronghold is Bonteheuwel. His list of charges include the sale of guns, eight counts of murder, five counts of attempted murder, plus fraud and money-laundering charges.

According to his charge sheet, Padayachee, in June 2018, participated in criminal activity in Goodwood by wilfully aiding and abetting criminal activity when he unlawfully sold or supplied firearms to individuals who were not allowed to possess firearms.

According to his charge sheet, Padayachee had “failed to notify the registrar that the physical or postal address of the premises from which he traded firearms and ammunition, as specified in his dealer’s licence, changed” and that he traded in firearms and ammunition from a premises other than that specified in his dealer’s licence and furthermore “received into stock firearms from other dealers”. It is also alleged that Padayachee rendered a security service while he was not registered to do so.

“Between August 18, 2017, and August 28, 2018, at or near Merebank, in the district of Wentworth, the accused rendered a security service as a training provider or instructor to a security service or prospective security provider, while he was not accredited and authorised to do so," the charge sheet reads.

His lengthy charge sheet also details how the accused gun smuggler failed to keep accurate records of firearms in his possession, how he failed to lock the firearms away safely and how he modified firearms without a gunsmith’s licence.
