Still blaming whites is not constructive

- Pinelands

YET another white-bashing racist article in the Cape Times, this one from Simone Reid, here from the United States of America to study Africa.

Like Thembile Ndabeni a couple of weeks ago, Ms Reid has lumped all whites together in the same basket.

This tedious whites-keepingblacks-from-doing-well saga is getting really old. South Africa has been ruled by a black government for more than a quarter of a century. How much longer is it going to take?

The abomination that was apartheid has left an understandable legacy of resentment, especially among the now older black population.

Take a cue from Nelson Mandela. Give it a rest and instead of bleating about how hard done by blacks are because of whites, as I mentioned to Mr Ndabeni, do something constructive about it.

Whining isn’t constructive. Blaming whites for everything isn’t constructive either. Destroying infrastructure when things don’t go your way is anything but constructive. On the plane from London to Joburg, Ms Reid said “the other, mostly white, passengers followed me with suspicious eyes”.

Another extract from her article read: “At the same time, I still felt a distinct outsideness, as I often do in the US when presented with white wealthy places.”

There’s quite a bit more in the article, but you get the picture.

I’m not a psychologist, but I think I recognise paranoia. I suggest she gets help before continuing with her African studies, which, given her current frame of mind, will likely be tainted with the same paranoia … and therefore, worthless.
