Death toll rises to 32 in Cuba hotel blast
HAVANA: The death toll after an explosion ripped through a luxury hotel in Havana on Friday climbed to 32 people, state television reported at the weekend.
Rescuers were still combing through what remained of the prestigious Saratoga Hotel looking for survivors.
The death toll has risen to 32, with 19 people missing, Sputnik reported, citing a state news Prensa Latina report. More than 60 people were injured and taken to hospital.
Minister of Tourism Juan Carlos Garcia said the explosion happened during the unloading of a tanker truck carrying about 10000 litres of liquefied gas. |
