IT’S TIME

for Num­ber Nine. As the eighth ed­i­tor of this il­lus­tri­ous pub­li­ca­tion and, a er five years and 61 is­sues, this is my final one at the helm.

What an hon­our it has been to work for one of the great mag­a­zines in South African me­dia and it’s been im­mensely re­ward­ing to see CAR both re­sist the print de­cline and ex­pand into a con­tent brand with a signi cant fol­low­ing on­line across our web­site and so­cial-me­dia plat­forms.

The key to all of this, of course, is the ded­i­cated and pro­fes­sional team putting its au­to­mo­tive pas­sion and ex­pe­ri­ence into ev­ery word, im­age and video you see in this mag­a­zine and on Car­mag.co.za. Ku­dos to you, Team CAR. I’ve worked in a num­ber of ed­i­to­rial teams over the years and I can hon­estly say I’ve never be­fore en­coun­tered a crew this tal­ented and knowl­edge­able. I’ve learnt much.

I doff my cap to you hold­ing this mag­a­zine, too, be­cause no other ti­tle en­joys a read­er­ship as in­volved and in­formed as CAR’S. We’re a na­tion of petrol­heads, su­per pas­sion­ate about our hard-work­ing Hiluxes, 325i Gusheshes, slammed Honda Type Rs and vin­tage Porsches ... and nowhere is that en­thu­si­asm more ev­i­dent than in the read­er­ship of this mag­a­zine.

On be­half of the CAR team, my sin­cere thanks for your support. As ever, your favourite mag­a­zine will con­tinue with its com­mit­ment to de­liver world-class au­to­mo­tive con­tent.
