Sun-loving speedster twins usher in new Ferrari series
Ferrari’s SP1 and SP2 limited-run models may be inspired by the firm’s 50s speedsters but they point to an exciting future line of Prancing Horses under the new Icona label.
Owing to extensive use of carbonfibre and other lightweight composites in their construction, plus a 603 kw 6,5-litre V12 sourced from the 812 Superfast, Ferrari claims these cars boast the best power-to- mass ratio of any barchetta.
The performance on offer is, frankly, blistering. The combination of the figures to the right and a lack of windscreen would normally be a seriously windswept affair but Ferrari has integrated a “virtual windshield” just ahead of the front fairing to help curb windblast beneath the facial-feature-rearrangement threshold.
