POLO vs. FIESTA TEST

Following the comparison test in the July 2018 issue of the Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fiesta, all three team members who commented expressed an opinion in favour of the Fiesta.

The Polo’s specs in just about every department – including the price – were superior to the Fiesta and it amazed me the Ford was rated 80 points out of 100 against the 79 points allocated to the Polo.

I would like to cite the new-car sales for these two vehicles for the month of September 2018: Polo – 3 886 units; Fiesta – 837 units.

There is nothing more to say, as South African buyers’ preference between these two vehicles is abundantly clear.

[Glen, you and I both know consumers don’t always buy the best products. Many factors come into play with purchasing decisions, including brand loyalty, customer service, discounts and so on. I’m not implying the Polo is somehow lacklustre – it most de nitely isn’t – but that the Fiesta is the more satisfying vehicle thanks to its smoother drivetrain and superior spec – editor.]
