REVISED SHOOTOUT RULES
For the past year, I’ve attempted to replicate your Performance Shootout 2018 results in other spheres of life. I attempted to win a local cross-country race without participating: no success and the organisers were rude to me. I subsequently lost out on being picked for the chess team and the rugby team.
In the real world, you need to participate in order to stand a chance of winning. Being an observer is not enough to be considered a winner. If Porsche South Africa has a cheap insurance plan which curbs track use for its models, that should earn it an honourable mention at best. Maybe Porsche should consider a new insurance plan if it would like to win.
No participation = no possibility of a win.

[Trust me, Brian, over the years we’ve spent countless heated hours in the of ce discussing this very topic, and the discourse surrounding Shootout 2019 was no different. Should Porsche be disquali ed because it does not allow its vehicles to be track-tested locally? The answer is no. Sure, the lack of track participation is immensely frustrating to both us and our readers but, ultimately, Shootout assesses vehicles on their on-road ability, not their prowess around a track. On that note, ip to page 38 to nd out which vehicle wins this year’s competition… – editor.]
