8 Series Convertible

A stunner with great proportions. Features a fabric-retractable roof that stows in 15 seconds. Some stiffening of the chassis and bodywork means the torsional rigidity of the Convertible is only slightly weaker than that of the Coupé. ETA: Q1

8 Series Gran Coupé

The addition of this four-door sedan should address the practical shortcomings of the Coupé. The additional doors make access easier, yet the sloping roofline may still encroach on luggage and rearpassenger space over true sedans. Notwithstanding, it should be a worthy adversary to the CLS, Panamera and A7. ETA: Considered for 2019

M8

The E31 8 Series never had an M variant, an omission BMW will address with the M8 to take the fight to the MERCEDESAMG GT63 and others. Details remain sketchy but expect interior and exterior M add-ons with larger vents, dams and scoops, blacked-out chrome and carbon-fibre. Power will most likely be from a fettled V8; however, a reworked V12 from the 7 Series is also rumoured. Expect “ooh-aah” looks and “gasp” performance. ETA: Considered for 2019
