-

TWELVE police officers appeared on murder and other charges in the Bellville Regional Court yesterday.

This was the first appearance of the two police captains, two warrant officers, one sergeant, and seven constables, all attached to the Hawks.

They face 13 charges that include murder, attempted murder, kidnapping and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

Eric Gosa of Mamelodi was arrested on December 1 2008 after police suspected him of being in possession of a stolen car.

When the matter went to court, police admitted their suspicion was based on the fact the vehicle’s battery was missing, and that Gosa was leaning against the car and looking into it.

Judge Billy Mothle awarded him R90 000 in the high court in Pretoria. — Sapa
