All goes well at Joe Gqabi elective poll

-

THE ANC in the Joe Gqabi region held its elective conference over the past weekend.

According to newly-elected regional secretary Loyiso Magqashela the conference proceeded smoothly and no major incidents were reported.

Magqashela and new treasurer Nonkongozelo Lengs took up their positions after their nominations were uncontested.

Lengs, who is Elundini’s mayor, takes over control of the region’s finances after Nogoli Gwabeni withdrew her nomination at the last minute.

Joe Gqabi district mayor Zibonele Dumzela emerged victorious and was elected the region’s ANC chairman after defeating Joe Gqabi district municipality speaker Bongani Salman.

Dumzela’s deputy, Nomvuyo Mphoselwa, emerged victorious over Xoliswa Motloi, while deputy secretary Themba Notyeke defeated Zolani Phungwani, Maletswayi municipality mayor, for the post.

“The secretary and treasury positions were the only ones that were not contested,” said Magqashela. — Asanda Nini
