Residents fury over signal outage

- By ARETHA LINDEN

MOST East London residents and surrounding areas woke up to blank television screens and mute radios yesterday morning.

A report from Crime Spotter Buffalo City said the signal was lost at 2.45am, after the tower at Nahoon Dam lost power.

It later emerged that some cellphone users were also affected as they could not make or receive phone calls or connect to social networks.

Sentech, a state-owned enterprise established to deliver broadcasting and broadband infrastructure in East London had not responded to questions sent to them by the time of going to print.

However an official at Sentech confirmed the incident.

“We have compiled a report and all question have been referred to our national offices,” said the official.

The signal was restored just before 8am. — arethal@dispatch.co.za
