Bolze shines at Cape Schools’ Week
THE Cape Schools’ Rugby Week 2013 came to a close on Wednesday afternoon after a tournament of top schools rugby.
Queen’s College enjoyed a successful tournament finishing with two wins and a loss in their three matches.
Flyhalf Simon Bolze was the driving force behind the team’s great performances. He had a brilliant week, finishing the tournament as the second-highest scorer.
Selborne also had a good week and if hadn’t been for a final day hiccup, they could have ended unbeaten.
Selborne started their campaign with an excellent 11-9 win over SACS.
Selborne were then expected to round out the tournament unbeaten, but a tenacious Boland Landbou side and some horrendous weather contributed to an unfortunate 13-10 loss.
Dale College unfortunately lost all three games to rated opponents having drawn the short straw against hosts Paarl Gym and Wynberg. Their first fixture was against Boland Landbou and marked their best chance of a victory, but despite a spirited fight they went down 34-22.
