APRIL 9 1964: The winner of the East London 1964 International Amateur Film Festival, Jacques Chalmandrier of Paris, arrived at the East London airport with a smile but without his luggage yesterday. He won the prize for his film titled Objectif Festival. He and his wife have been loaned a suit of clothing until their luggage arrives and will stay at a beachfront hotel for a week as part of their prize, which also included their flight from Paris. APRIL 9 1984: Two major economic boosts have been announced for East London. The first development is that the Minister of Environmental Affairs Sarel Hayward has announced the go-ahead for the construction of the R225million Wriggleswade Dam near Stutterheim. The second development is the announcement that the second phase to the development of the Vincent Park Shopping Centre will start soon.
