Urban Warriors wary of desperate Arrows

ROGER de Sa expects Lamontville Golden Arrows to throw the kitchen sink at his Ajax Cape Town side when the teams clash in the Premiership at the Cape Town Stadium tonight.

Arrows are eight points adrift at the bottom of the league table and with just six games remaining, will likely have to win them all to have a chance of staying up this season.

For that reason, De Sa believes they will be a dangerous opponent.

“They are staring down the barrel, they have to win every game that is left and every game will be like a cup final for them,” said De Sa.

“Their performances have not been that bad, I watched them against Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns and they do always create chances.”

De Sa has also given his backing to Abafana Bes’thende caretaker coach Shaun Bartlett, who has been unable to turn the tide since taking over with Bheka Phakathi from Mark Harrison in February.

“Shaun has done a good job, I just feel he doesn’t have the right material there to work with. They are a team that creates chances, but they are weak at the back.

“Their strike-force is pretty good, [Bongi] Ntuli is a striker that 10 or more PSL clubs are waiting for Arrows to go down so they can snap him up. They will be very direct, play long balls, get flick-ons and use their strength.”

At the moment De Sa is not thinking about the top eight, but says a win tonight could bring them back into the reckoning and change his view of the remainder of the season.

“If we get a result then that will change our outlook on things and the players we use.”

Ajax are currently behind Bloemfontein eighth with five games season.

Arrows’ last 14 league matches have resulted in 13 defeats and a single victory over Polokwane City on February 8. five points Celtic in left in the
