Latest crossover built to suit the SA market

-

THE all-new Nissan X-Trail has joined the brand’s South African product line-up retaining the hallmarks of its predecessors, such as all-terrain suitability but packaged in a modern crossover design.

“With the new Nissan X-Trail, we are embracing an even greater mix of SUV consumers,” said Graeme Birch, general manager of marketing communications at Nissan South Africa.

“The SUV market is globally popular, and with increasing gravitation towards crossover vehicles which combine the dynamics and aesthetics of passenger and sports vehicles with the driving experience and off-road ability of an SUV, the new X-Trail fits perfectly above our Juke and Qashqai crossover ranges.”

Built for South Africa at the Nissan Kyushu Plant in Japan, the X-Trail has already been bestowed with the United Kingdom’s 2014 What Car? readers’ choice award. The vehicle arrives in South Africa as an eight-model range.

Headlining the engine line-up, four new derivatives – in XE, SE and LE specification – are available with an all-new 1.6-litre direct-injection turbocharged diesel engine which produces 96kW at 4 000rpm and 320Nm at 1 750rpm.

The range is rounded off by two entrylevel 2.0 XE models, each powered by a 2.0litre direct injection normally aspirated petrol engine which produces 106kW at 6 000rpm and 200Nm at 4 400rpm.
