Two men stabbed to death in separate Mthatha incidents

TWO young men were stabbed to death in two separate incidents in Mthatha at the weekend.

Mthatha police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela said the two victims were aged 19 and 22.

“The 19-year-old man was stabbed by another man following a quarrel between the two at Ziphunzana village on Saturday at about 8pm.

“There has been no

arrest yet, but police now know the suspect they are looking for.

“A second murder was of a 22year-old man who was killed in a tavern at Slovo Park near Mthatha. Nobody has yet been arrested,” said Fatyela.

● Meanwhile, four suspects were arrested in Mthatha and Butterwort­h for allegedly dealing in drugs and dagga.

Two women aged 28 and 38 are due to appear in the Butterwort­h Magistrate’s Court today.

They were arrested in a Butterwort­h township at about 11am on Friday.

“The dagga has a weight of 24.10kg with a street value of R24 000,” said Butterwort­h police spokesman Captain Jackson Manatha.

Fatyela said two men aged 25 and 30 were arrested at a house in Chris Hani Park, Mthatha at about 6pm on Saturday.

“They were found in possession of a 7.65mm pistol with three rounds of ammunition, 22 mandrax tables and a sum of R3 834,” said Fatyela.

The men are expected to appear in the Mthatha Magistrate’s Court today. —
