Billy’s best bash yet

- By ROSS ROCHE

MUSIC lovers are in for a treat this Christmas season as the popular Billy’s Beach makes its debut at Kenton-on-Sea.

The Billy’s Beach party event has been a regular feature on the St Francis Bay Christmas season music scene for a number of years. This year it will be extending its reach to Kenton.

“We are expanding the brand with our partner Caribbean Twist. We have taken over the old ‘Winkies’ event to bring festival-goers and holidaygood music and vibes,” organiser Kate Ackerman said.

“We want to bring joy, music and a well-organised event to holidaymakers and locals.”

The feel-good, surfcentric beach party will be hosting the best live music and DJ acts from across the country.

Kinky Disco, We Love Summer and Tropical Roast will each have a day to offer up their distinctive beats and sum- mer vibes.

“With us debuting in Kenton this year, we are bringing the summer heat to Kenton-on-Sea with acts like Al Bairre, Just Jinjer, PHFat, and Matthew Mole, as well as Billy’s well-known day party takeovers, Kinky Disco and We love Summer,” Ackerman said.

With Just Jinjer and Monark having opened Billy’s Beach last week, the party features a different show each day until January 2.

With another big party in the area, the annual ox braai, to contend with, Billy’s Beach will be bringing some of the country’s most talented up-and-coming artists to its band day tomorrow.

Al Bairre and Shortstraw have been receiving a lot of airplay on 5fm recently, while Grassy Spark and Not Bad DJs are beginning to force themselves into the limelight, so a great show will be expected on that day.

“Billy’s Beach is always madness, there is just something about dancing on sand that gets the people going,” said Al Bairre’s Kyle Davis, who has played at the St Francis Billy’s Beach numerous times.

With a packed festive season in the offing, Billy’s Beach in Kenton is all set to be a smash hit.
