TOP comedian Marc Lottering makes a return to East London for charity this weekend.

The Cape Town-born comedian will be performing at the Guild Theatre for a fundraising event organised by Heston Botha to raise funds for the DJ Sobey Old Age and Isaiah 58 children’s homes.

“We decided to bring Marc because of his huge following. Everyone loves him and we are confident they will come out and support,” said Botha.

The one-day show starts at 5pm this Sunday.

The last time Lottering was in East London was last year in June for his one-man show, and he said he was honoured to be coming to East London for charity.

“I am happy to be taking part in a charity event and also I am excited to be returning to East London. I am also glad that this event will help both young and old,” he said.

On his last East London visit Lottering performed at The Venue@ Hemingways. He said he was excited to be making a return to the Guild Theatre.

“I haven’t performed at the Guild Theatre in such a long time and it’s always good being there,” he said.

Lottering said people should expect to hear some of his favourite stories from over the years that he has been doing comedy.

“This will be a collection of all my favourite stories and maybe some new stuff as well. The news in South Africa is always evolving and I will be sharing some of the more current stuff,” he said.

Lottering said he would return to East London again in July this year for his one-man show, called Hash Tag Lottering.

The show has already kicked off at The Old Mill Theatre in Paarl.

“It’s always good to come to East London and I am glad I will be coming sooner than expected,” he said.

● Tickets for Sunday’s fundraiser cost R150 and are available from the Guild Theatre and Computicket. —
