‘Mamello’ back with more suspense and twists
THE new season of the drama series Mamello (which means “resilience”) returns on SABC2 next Wednesday, at 9.30pm.
The drama returns with more twists and turns as well as a few new faces.
In season 2 we see the introduction of a few familiar faces in the form of Mutodi Neshehe who plays the role of Amos Bakwena, Wiseman Mncube, who plays the role of Junior, and Mr Tso to be played by Luzuko Nteleko.
In the last episode of season 1, teacher Keneilwe Mogotsi faced her husband Kotsi and told him that their marriage was over and he has no power over her.
Kotsi reacted typically, beating her. Because of the assault on Keneilwe, Kotsi violated his parole and was immediately arrested.
Escaping this abusive marriage Keneilwe returns to Sebokeng, the industrial township she ran away from as a young woman.
Her mission is to rescue Mamello High, a disadvantaged school on the verge of being closed down. The question is now, can she rebuild the school as she rebuilds her life?
“The first season of Mamello ended up on a high and the idea is to take from where we left off. In the second season we look at dealing with major societal issues that are prevalent in our education system and which requires our utmost attention if we are to turn educational institutions into what they should be.
“These issues can be anything around teenage mothers, drug addiction, sexual identity, burning of learning institutions etc. Mamello does talk to the status quo and our viewers should relate to the storyline. We have also retained all our leads from season 1,” Lebo Malete, SABC2 publicist said. — DDR
