Noah’s nostalgic for SA’s figures of fun

-

TREVOR Noah has spoken out about the state of South African politics‚ saying “uncontrollable” people have been put in power.

“You put them in the right position‚ you get them in the right place‚ and you realise that controlling them is not something that is manageable‚” the comedian said.

“There were people who thought they could control (EFF leader) Julius Malema. There were people who thought they could control (President) Jacob Zuma.

“But you come to realise that when you put the wrong man in the right place he can do the utmost damage.”

Noah compared them to US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Noah said he believed Americans would not vote for a divisive man.

“Maybe I suffer from too much optimism‚ but I don’t believe America will vote that way. I do not believe that a majority of a country will vote for a man who is that divisive‚ who will vote for an idea that is fundamentally opposed to what America is.

“If it were to happen‚ and I mean crazier things have happened‚ I don’t know that America will be able to recover from it. I don’t even think Republicans are being honest with themselves in terms of them thinking they can control this person.”

Noah said he missed poking fun at South African politicians.

“I do‚ especially skinny Julius. I miss all the old boys. I miss what’s happening back home. It’s exciting. How did I miss (SABC chief operating officer) Hlaudi (Motsoeneng)? Do you know how many times I got shows turned down by the SABC? I wish I was around for all of this.” — BDlive
