ANC has lost its identity

-

THE aftermath predicament of the local elections should be a lesson to the ANC. Sadly it is an unintended consequence of losing Nelson Mandela Bay Metro. It is the same metro that used to be a political landscape of the ANC. It is the same metro where the graves of true comrades who fought for freedom up to the point of death, lie.

These are the likes of comrades Govan Mbeki, Rev Xundu, Vuyisile Mini, James Calata, Fort Calata, Mathew Goniwe, Sicelo Mhlawuli, Sporo Mkhonto.

Today politics of the stomach are reversing the gains of our movement. The ANC has lost its identity of becoming a national liberation movement.

ANC politics in terms of mass mobilisation, organisational renewal and cadre development have collapsed – instead the time is wasted protecting a monumentally flawed individual.

Power corrupts but absolute power corrupts absolutely. It is unfortunate that the ANC have not invested in the youth in terms of the political capital of the organisation and that is the reason why we are not able to turn the tide against #fees must fall #occupy Luthuli House.

Demographic trends depict that most voters for 2019 are the youth. This is an alarming trend that demands prudent action by the ANC. The most difficult struggle is the struggle against your own weakness. – Dumisani Msila, Butterworth
