Disgraced church leaders linked to unbiblical behaviour
KUPISO is not the only “pastor” who has found himself embroiled in controversy.
A number of others who have founded churches and behaved in a way considered unbiblical have found their way into the public media recently. Some of them were: ● Mthatha-based pastor Phumzile Topie of Favors Church who fled early this month after 20 of his congregation fell ill after drinking a pink coloured substance that some suspected was engine oil. Emergency personnel had to be called to the church.
● Limpopo based “prophet” Rufus of AK Spiritual Christian Church in Makgodu made his members drink liquid antiseptic Dettol as an instruction from God to heal them of sickness.
● Penuel Mnguni, a pastor from Pretoria was criticised for making his people swallow snakes, saying they would be healed. He disappeared for a few months and later pictures of him driving a vehicle over his congregants surfaced.
● Lethebo “prophet” Rabalago recently made headlines by spraying his congregation with Doom pesticide saying it had “healing powers”.
● Power of the Cross church leader, Zakhele Ntiwane, was accused of assaulting his wife Mbali.
He allegedly slept with a number of women in his congregation, and allegedly told them God had identified them for him. — bonganif@dispatch.co.za
