WC police arrest three after gang related killing

WESTERN Cape police arrested three people within hours of multiple shooting incidents this week.

After a suspected 26s gang member was shot and killed on Tuesday night in Belhar in the Western Cape‚ people in a similar car opened fire on another man‚ wounding him and a two-year-old girl. Western Cape police spokespers­on Captain F C van Wyk said: “While police were at the crime scene the same vehicle pulled up at Chestnut Place and randomly started shooting from the black Hyundai i10.”

Van Wyk said after both incidents the station commander at the Belhar police station establishe­d a task team and within an hour two suspects were arrested, with a third arrested a short while later, on charges of murder and attempted murder.

Van Wyk confirmed that all three were due to appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court soon on charges including murder‚ attempted murder and possession of a prohibited firearm. — TMG
