BCM’s eyes fixed on potholes

40 suburbs’ roads targeted for repairs

ACCORDING to a schedule from Buffalo City Metro (BCM), there are 40 suburbs targeted for pothole repairs.

In the schedule, the metro estimated that the repairs for the targeted suburbs would end in June.

BCM spokesman Sibusiso Cindi said the programme to eradicate potholes had met with some “challenges” but work was ongoing.

“Inclement weather, aged road infrastruc­ture, and plant and machinery shortages have been our challenges. Cindi said 755 streets were patched and had received an overlay in the last six months. He gave the breakdown as: ● Inland Region: King William’s Town and surroundin­g areas – 75 streets.

● Midland Region: Mdantsane and surrounds – 197 streets; and

● Coastal Region: East London and surroundin­g areas – 383 streets.

According to a schedule provided by BCM, here are the suburbs targeted for repairs:

Peffervill­e; Summerprid­e; Braelyn; Amalinda; North End; Vincent; Gonubie; CBD; Nahoon; Nahoon Valley; Berea; Beacon Bay; Quigney; Cambridge; Cambridge West; Morningsid­e; Haven Hills; Duncan Village; Saxilby; Southernwo­od; Dorchester Heights; Scenery Park; Greenfield­s; Parkside; Buffalo Flats; Gately; Vergenoeg; Stoney Drift; Selborne; Egoli; Sunnyridge; Woodbrook; West Bank; Wilsonia; Arcadia; Stirling; Baysville; Parkridge and areas around the airport. —
