Coach vows to pull Buffalo clear

- By MKHULULI NDAMASE

NEW F C Buffalo coach Zukile Ntlola has vowed that his team will not be relegated from the ABC Motsepe League.

And with three games left, perhaps Ntlola can guide the team to safety as they will play against fellow struggling sides Morning Stars, Highbury and Mdantsane Mighty Bucks FC.

All the teams are fighting to escape the relegation zone, which will make things difficult for F C Buffalo.

The once dominant F C Buffalo is experiencing the worst season in its history – and it could get worse if Ntlola does not guide the team to safety.

F C Buffalo are languishing in 13th place with 22 points from 27 games. They are only one point above the danger zone as two teams are set to be relegated in three weeks’ time.

At least the former champions still have their fate in their own hands as they do not have to rely on other teams doing them favours to survive.

A loss against Stars will be catastrophic for the East Londoners as they will slip further down the logstandings.

Stars have survived the drop for two consecutive seasons and know what it takes to escape the danger zone.

The Zwide outfit showed last weekend that the jury is not yet out as they pulled a surprising 31 win over Highbury.

With both sides fighting for their lives, the fans should be in for a good game of football at the Zwide Stadium on Saturday.

F C Buffalo, which lost against log leaders, E C Bees last weekend, will have to be clinical in front of goals or the possibility of being relegated might become a reality.

Ntlola is confident that come next season, they will still be playing third tier football.

“I want to make it clear to everyone that this team is not going anywhere. This team will survive the drop.

“I want to assure everyone who thinks this team is going down that this team is not going anywhere,” he said.

The same sentiment was shared by club boss Rodney Mashaya when he told the Daily Dispatch last month that F C Buffalo “is too big a team to be relegated”.

This was after long-serving coach William Mugeyi announced that he had left the team he had coached for several years.

With Highbury also fighting to survive, F C Buffalo will have a mountain to climb again next weekend.

A win for F C Buffalo against Stars will go a long way in improving their survival and should they fail to get three points, they will only make life difficult for themselves going to their last two games.
