Industrial revival eyed

BUFFALO City Metro once housed active industrial nodes under the apartheid government, but over the last 20 years a number of companies pulled out and several factories in the metro now stand abandoned.

Since 2010, more than four major factories have closed in the former Border corridor of the Eastern Cape.

In 2015, Seating (Pty) Ltd, a Komani-based furniture factory closed shop. Last year, Vektronix (Pty) Ltd and Time Clothing, both based in BCM shut. — Simthandile Ford
