EL auditions for ‘Perfect Wedding’

EAST London is one of three cities that will host auditions for the popular Mzansi Magic reality show, Our Perfect Wedding.

The reality show, which has had seven successful seasons, is switching gears with a presenter search open to the public. The East London auditions will be held at the Premier Hotel Regent this Saturday.

Mzansi Magic’s Bongiwe Metsing said they saw it fitting to include East London on the list of cities for auditions. “We wanted to involve the Eastern Cape because the people love love, and what better way to celebrate that. We want to give the community an opportunit­y to show,” she said.

With three seasons of ushering couples to the altar under her belt, Thembisa Mdoda is bidding farewell to the show. Mdoda’s contract comes to an end this month.

The reality wedding show, which documents the real life journeys of ordinary South Africans as they create their perfect wedding day, continues to own Sunday night viewing by creating weddings that keep South Africans talking.

While the production goes on the road to look for a new presenter, Nomsa Buthelezi returns as the host. audition for the Metsing said the new presenter would need to have a warm personalit­y and be able to connect with the brides and viewers.

Contestant­s must be aged 25 and upwards, and should be South African citizens with a valid ID.

Potential presenters will be auditioned by the producers and shortliste­d for a second round of auditions. A panel of judges will select the contestant­s that will battle it out for the public vote in the final phase.

Metsing said the judges would be named later this week. Other cities hosting auditions include Durban and Joburg. — Poliswa Plaatjie
