‘Final Cut’ female winner to strut her stuff on ‘Isidingo’
THE sky is the limit for Ngcobo-born actress Nasiphi Ntabeni, who recently won the SABC 3 talent search show The Final Cut.
Ntabeni will be getting a role on popular SABC 3’s soap opera Isidingo.
The show, which ended last month, follows a journey packed with melodrama, victory, failure and ultimate glory for one male and one female up and coming actor and actress.
Ntabeni was the leading female, and Pietermaritzburg actor Cebo Zikhali took the leading male spot.
Ntabeni, who was one of four Eastern Cape finalists who went through in the competition, said she did not think she would ultimately win.
“Making it to the top four in the Eastern Cape was a lifechanging experience for me. The rest that followed was totally unexpected,” she said.
Ntabeni said the experience has improved her confidence as an actress.
“I didn’t think I was good because I was competing with people from all over, with some having been exposed to a lot of opportunities.
“I remember someone saying that I had no idea how good I am and I honestly didn’t believe it,” she said.
The 25-year-old actress, who moved to Dutywa at the age of 12, said she had learnt a lot through the competition and could not wait to implement it.
“I have never had any TV experience before and I am thankful to God for the opportunity,” she said.
Ntabeni said since winning the competition she had been getting a lot of offers from designers wanting to dress her and agencies wanting to represent her.
“Right now, I don’t want to sign anything. I want to get all the necessary information before I can agree on certain things,” she said.
Ntabeni said she would be moving to Johannesburg later this month.
“I will start shooting for Isidingo later in the year but will only start appearing on the show next year. For now I want to be close to get all the information I need about the industry.” — poliswap@dispatch.co.za Amacala Siphokazi
