Lowdown on ANC’s new EC PEC

served three terms at the Ngcobo branch before moving to Mthatha where he was elected into the ANCYL REC.

He then served three terms as the secretary of the ANC KSD sub-regional until he was elected twice as the O R Tambo regional secretary.

Sauls-August previously served as the REC member of the Women’s League in the Nelson Mandela Bay for seven years.

She then elevated to the provincial executive of the ANCWL from 2008-2015.

She has also served as the ANC regional treasurer between 2008 and 2009 when she was elected to the deputy provincial secretary position which she has held since.

Cut his political teeth when he enrolled at the Durban University of Technology for a career path in town and regional planning.

This is the same course that led Madikizela to be among the youngest African individuals to own a plant hire company in the Eastern Cape in 2003.

It was only in 2009 that Madikizela became formally involved in ANC structures and the next year he was elected into the ANCYL PEC.

In 2011, Madikizela became Alfred Nzo regional treasurer.

When the ANCYL PEC in the province got disbanded last year, many might have thought it was the end of the political careers of all who were in that structure.

But that was not to be the case for militant 33year-old Rabe who has since resuscitated her political career by being elected into the mother body’s PEC.

She is the youngest member in the PEC.

Rabe became a member of Sasco in 2002 at Eastern Cape Technikon (now WSU) Zamukulungusa in Mthatha before she became an ANC member in 2006 in KSD.

She left for the University of Fort Hare where she joined Sasco in 2007 which propelled her to the position of residence officer in 2008-09 and treasurer in 2009-10.

Rabe continued her ANC activism as branch member to Buffalo City’s ward 47.

She qualified with a nursing degree in 2010 and worked as a nurse in 2011. At the time, she led the SA Democratic Nurses’ Union in BCM.
