- By BONGANI FUZILE

PAROLE-SEEKERS may say they are being denied administrative justice, but some of the crimes committed by claimants were described by judges as “horrific” and “coldblooded”.

Saturday Dispatch has looked into some of the crimes committed by the aspirant parolees.

All of these prisoners are at Middledrift Prison:

Two Cathcart men broke into the home of Esebel Rogers, 76, and murdered and robbed her.

One of them raped her, while the other tied and smothered her.

A Dimbaza man and two farm workers got two life sentences and 20 years each for murdering and robbing Elliot farming couple, Kevin and Lou McGregor, who were shot dead at their Bloemvlei farm.

The Grahamstown High Court said they had planned the robbery and murders, and “cold bloodedly executed their plan”.

The McGregors were shot in their heads at close range in the sitting room of their home, while their two-year-old granddaughter slept in a nearby bedroom;

A Stutterheim man was sentenced to life in prison for the rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl in Stutterheim in 2000;

Two Peddie men hijacked and assaulted two academic researchers Dr Isla Grundy, of Stellenbosch, and Michelle Cocks-Dold, causing the death of her unborn baby, in Peddie’s Bell location.

They were badly assaulted and left for dead in the bush and;

A Cape Town man raped and murdered three-year-old Sisonke Ntayi from Khayelitsha in 1997.

After killing her, he left her body on railway tracks in the hopes a train would destroy the evidence. bonganif@ dispatch.co.za —
