Guilty clubs can be charged and fined
SA FOOTBALL Association provincial secretary Isaac Klaas has come out to condemn a popular trend among the ABC Motsepe League teams of defaulting on players’ registration cards.
This follows a commotion during a thirdtier league game between Future Tigers and PE Stars where Tigers were beaten 5-1 at the Ginsberg Stadium. Both clubs alleged there were players who had not been registered.
“This is a big issue for us and we’ve brought in a new system to combat this, but it seems that teams are always a step ahead of us with a better plan.
“This is serious misconduct and if a team is found guilty of committing such an offence they can be charged, but complainants must be able to prove their allegations to the disciplinary committee,” Klaas said.
He added that Safa had put measures in place to assist clubs in making their cases heard and even put together a cellphone application that can be useful when such instances occur during a game.
“Clubs can download this app and use it to scan playing cards of their opposition in order to be certain about players they might doubt.
“That app is efficient and fraudulent, it rejects it.
