Follow Greeff and Cheyne at Fairview

- Dispatch Racing Editor

IT IS time for punters to cash in after a disastrous meeting at Fairview last Friday.

At today’s Polytrack meeting the obvious route seems to be backing trainer Alan Greeff and jockey Greg Cheyne, who look formidable in most of the eight races on the programme – a completely different scenario to last weekend’s quiet meeting.

Greeff sends out Tin Tan in Race 1. This three-year-old daughter of Mambo In Seattle could start favourite, but can expect tough opposition from Dancing Ruga and Icarus Flight.

Race 2 seems to be a twohorse race between Trees Of Green (Tara Laing) and Greeff’s charge Captain Marmalade, so expect a battle of tactics between Ryan Munger and Cheyne.

Greeff gets the nod in Race 3 with Searching. The daughter of Jay Peg got too far back in her last race, but finished well for second, 1.25 lengths behind Stola. She will be ridden by Cheyne, who could help her break out of the maiden ranks at her fifth attempt.

Munger could prove to be Cheyne’s main competitor. He teams up with in-form Limerick Ridge, while Valentine’s Girl also has the ability to win.

Race 5 is a wide-open affair with Chappaquiddick (Karl Zechner), Tubular Bell (Lyle Hewitson) and Suave (Cheyne) being the front runners in the chase for the winner’s cheque.

Varsity Cup (Cheyne) and Flying Rock (Keanen Steyn) could fight out the finish in Race 6, but Dickensian (JP van der Merwe) and Zip Line are not out of it.

In Race 7, Greeff-trained Fritz Nobis looks solid on paper with Charles Ndlovu in the saddle, although Cheyne rides Quinelia.

The vote goes to Ndlovu this time.

Greeff and Cheyne can finish the meeting with a winner – Stopthinkingofme.

However, six-year-old mare Dance In The Woods, with Jarryd Penny in the irons, could finish in the money or even win.

The meeting starts at 1.05pm with a Maiden Plate over 1 200m.
