You saved my wife’s life

-

THIS is to thank the staff of Flysafair for the way they helped me and my family on Friday June 1 at the airport. They saved my wife’s life.

They acted promptly, efficiently and diligently. When I got to the airport at about 8.15am rushing my wife and grandson for a flight at 9.10am flight to Johannesburg, she started bleeding profusely through the nose and mouth.

Siyabonga Zukani at check-in counter number four quickly organised first aiders, who also did a stunning job.

Michelle Xotyeni and her colleague Carl Wheeler battled for about an hour or so trying to stop the bleeding while we waited for an ambulance.

They were patient and friendly, assuring my wife she would be fine while also trying to calm my grandson and counselling him.

Eventually I had to rush back to the check-in counters to reverse the luggage as they obviously would not be flying. The suitcases were gone already but Siyabonga managed to grab them back.

The boarding passes had been handed over, and to reverse them I was assisted by Yomga Langa at ticket sales.

She left her queues and literally ran to the boarding gates to cancel the passes in time.

I am so grateful to you all for your stunning work. May God bless you.

In the same breath I thank God for taking control of the situation. My wife could have died if she had got onto that plane.

Eventually the ambulance came and they could not stop the bleeding before she got to hospital. The ambulance staff also helped a lot though.

We as a family are very grateful for what everyone did. Thank you. — Goodworth Lawula Mazomba, East London
