Amavarara load their gunpowder for SAB playoffs

- By MFUNDO PILISO

AMAVARARA coach Wiseman Mdunana thinks his charges stand a better chance of performing well in the group stages in the SAB League playoffs set to commence this morning at the army base in Grahamstown.

Mdunana, who joined the Komanibased outfit after they failed to win in the same tournament in Alice last year, said he had corrected everything he thought the team did wrong then.

He said they wanted to start on a high so as to ease the pressure on his charges as the games progressed.

“We need to set a tone with that first game against Happy Movers.”

He said the fact that they’ve never played against Movers was a good thing for them and they would capitalise on their shortcomings.

“They don’t know how we play and we also don’t know how they play, so that’s why I’m happy we playing them first – we’ll just play our game and surprise them.

“But we are familiar with Madibaz which is our second opponent. We’ve played against them in the Nedbank Cup preliminary round, they eliminated us from that tournament.”

Mdunana said his charges have been working extra time in training and he was relieved that they were going into their biggest tournament without any injuries.

Tomorrow: Amavarara v Madibaz, Manchester v Happy Movers, Mighty Bucks v FC Siyanda, Blackpool v Birmingham City, Manchester United v Madibaz, Amavarara v Happy Movers, Blackpool v FC Siyanda, Mighty Bucks v Birmingham City.
