ADM to cart water to areas affected after pipe burst
Amathole District Municipality will continue to cart water to Butterworth residents until the burst water pipe that left hundreds, if not thousands, without water, is fixed.
The ADM is anticipating that that it will take at least a week to fix the burst water pipe at the Reservoir Hill Pump Station in Butterworth.
Areas that have been affected are Bika township, Cuba, Vuli Valley, Extensions 14 and 24, Mcubakazi and the Ibika surrounding villages. Acting ADM spokesperson Noni Vuso said they were working around clock to fix the burst pipe.
Vuso said public institutions affected by the water cut included Walter Sisulu University, Butterworth campus.
“It affects WSU, but they do have three boreholes on site. Water is tanked by water trucks to the rest of the affected areas in Butterworth,” she said.
Thursday’s Daily Dispatch article, headlined “Taps run dry after reservoir pipe burst”stated that Nomasikizi Konza was the ADM mayor. Konza was also quoted in the story which was also incorrect. In fact, the current ADM mayor is Nomfusi Winnie Nxawe. We regret the errors. the
