At the police station

-

According to Komani police spokesperson captain Namhla Mdleleni when a rape case is reported the police take statements and send the victim to the crisis centre, where the tests are done.

“At the crisis centre there are experts who will determine whether the victim has been raped or not, and if they confirm that the victim was raped, the police will open a case and investigate,” she said.

Mdleleni said in many cases the victims didn’t know the suspects.

“When the suspect is arrested, our investigators send the dockets to the prosecutor for prosecution,” Mdleleni said.
