OR Tambo Miss Matric hopefuls line up for title
More than a dozen teenagers will be strutting their stuff on the catwalk hoping to be crowned the first Miss Matric held in OR Tambo municipality.
High school teacher Monalisa Bangaza has organised a beauty pageant for girls in Grade 12 saying she wants them to be role models for the younger generation. “The other pupils in the schools already look up to the matric pupils but now we want to enhance that by encouraging neatness and tidiness as well,” Bangaza said.
The pageant will take place in the OR Tambo Hall in Vulindlela Heights on Saturday.
The 15 finalists will be competing in four categories where they will be wearing their school uniform, matric farewell dresses, bikinis with tutus as well as casual wear.
Bangaza said she was starting small but hoped things would improve next year.
