Orlando Pirates centre-back Gladwin Shitolo said Saturday’s much-anticipated Telkom Cup final against Baroka FC was their chance to break their three year trophy drought.

Pirates play Bakgaga at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium at 6pm.

The Buccaneers who have not won a trophy since May 2014, plan to end that bad spell in the league on Saturday.

“We’re looking forward Saturday,” Shitolo said.

“We’ve been working hard for it and I think it’s time we get it because we’ve been fighting for the last three years to win something, so this is our chance to win something.

“The mood in the camp is good and we’re confident. Looking at our previous matches we’ve been working well and you know when you’re working well is when you gain confidence.” The Giyani player who has only made three Premiership appearances for Pirates this season is wary their game against the young Baroka team will not be a walk in the park.

“I think it’s going to be a tough game looking at Baroka. They’ve been in good form and so have we. I think it’s going to be a tough to winning on one. To even predict the score is going to be difficult.”

The ex-Golden Arrows player said being the more experienced side would play to their advantage. “I think we have more advantage because we have the experience to play cup finals, with Baroka it will be their first cup final in the PSL.

“Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium favours us too. The kind of football we play, it’s a good pitch for that kind of football. So, I think we have another advantage with the pitch because we like playing from the back, building up from the back so it’s a good pitch for us.”
