New look for EL’s Balfour Park Shopping Centre
The Balfour Park shopping centre in Vincent is getting a facelift and exciting new tenants are joining in.
JH Group founder and CEO Jens Heimberg said: “This means a better offering and more parking for our valued shoppers.”
Following the opening of the new Food Lover’s Market, the centre will continue to implement various upgrades over the coming months.
“The vacated premises of the old Fruit & Veg will be tenanted by the national furniture chain Bradlows as well as the local furniture store Brands who will be expanding into a new superstore set to open in April.
“The footprint of Mambos will also be increasing, with additional retail and storage space being added. We are also planning to build our new JH Group offices on the rooftop,” said Heimberg.
JH Group property manager Eugene McNamara said: “An additional 100 parking bays were constructed above the new Food Lover’s Market.
“The rooftop parking has easy access to the shopping area via lifts and stairs.”
“The new Food Lover’s Market saw them expanding their offering and store area from 1400m² to 2800m².
“With the Brands store vacating their current premises in order to open their new superstore across the road, an exciting opportunity exists for a new tenant to trade at this prime shop, right near the entrance to Checkers.”

The JH group purchased the Balfour Park shopping centre in Balfour Road about 20 years ago.
The tenant mix has grown from strength to strength and the offering, complemented by extensive free parking, offers shoppers a fun and convenient shopping experience.
The JH Group has also recently completed a modern and contemporary office park in Port Elizabeth.
The Waterfront Business Park, situated in Humewood, has magnificent views overlooking the port and Algoa Bay and boasts blue chip tenants such as Coca-Cola Africa, Investec, MTN, DSV and Sasfin.
Heimberg said: “The JH Group is a diversified organisation, operating businesses not only in the commercial property sector, but also in sectors which include: hospitality, restaurants, aquaculture, fuel retail, technology, and packaging.
“We are excited about the future of Balfour Park Shopping Centre and will continue to invest in East London and the Eastern Cape while also looking to expand into the Western Cape.
