PAC accuses IEC of ‘meddling’
PAC president Mzwanele Nyhontso has threatened to shut down the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) if the election body does not stop meddling in its affairs.
He was speaking at a press briefing at the East London City Hall on Sunday after guiding the party’s provincial executive committee on its political programme.
One of the items on the PAC’s programme is the provincial structure’s plan to mobilise mass support for a protest against Daimler and Sanlam during the party’s 60th anniversary on April 6.
Provincial secretary Phumzile Nomnga said the protest – targeting the two companies for their role in reportedly funding apartheid – would coincide with the PEC’s release of its election manifesto.
