Sticks set to fly up on the Hill

Easter hockey action kicked into high gear on Thursday night as the fiercely competitiv­e KC March Easter Festival got under way at Buco Park Bunkers Hill.

Three matches took place, two men’s silver league games and one women’s silver league match, with the results unavailabl­e at the time of going to print.

The main action however “sticks off” on Friday morning as the two main gold sections get under way.

Three venues are being used for the festival, the Buffalo Flats Astro which will see matches from 8am to 5pm on both Friday and Saturday, with men’s and women’s silver league games being played.

Cambridge Astro will then see action on Friday and Saturday from 8am to 8.30pm, also silver league men’s and women’s games, while some exciting gold league women’s matches will take place there on Saturday, with Parkside, Beaulieu and Gelvan all playing each other.

The Silver League women’s semifinals will be played at Cambridge at 8am and 9.10am on Sunday morning.

The main venue will then be Buco Park, where men’s and women’s gold league action will be battled out from 9am to 9.40pm on Friday, a full day of men’s gold action on Saturday from 8am to 9.40pm, and then men’s gold and silver semis followed by all of the finals from 8am to 5pm on Sunday.

Some of the top gold section games to watch at Buco Park on Friday include United v Bohs men at 10.20am, Parkside v Beaulieu ladies at 11.30am, Parkside men against Lakeside Cavaliers at 12.40pm and NMU Madibaz at 7.40pm, and United versus Langa men at 8.50pm.

On Saturday, Beaulieu v United at 9.10am and against Langa at 1.50pm and Lakeside Cavaliers versus NMU Madibaz at 7.40pm should be the ones to watch.

Sunday will then see the silver league men’s semis at 8am and 9.10am and the gold league men’s semis at 10.20am and 11.30am.

The ladies and men’s silver league finals will then be at 12.40pm and 1.50pm respective­ly, followed by the festival ending women’s and men’s gold league finals at 3pm and 4.10pm respective­ly.

In all a fantastic weekend of hockey action is taking place and spectators should be fully entertaine­d.
